General description: Native to Central America, it is an annual plant with a creeping and climbing habit, medium size.
There are many types of pumpkin and we have three varieties, from which you can choose the one that best suits your needs:
- The 'Butternut Waltham' pumpkin has a sweet taste and is especially suitable for food purposes. It has thin-skinned, cream fruits, a late maturation but when adult, the fruit weighs 1.5 to 2 kg.
- The 'Muscat de Provence' pumpkin is suitable for hot climates and produces a fruit weighing 5 to 10 kg, with a round shape and dark green color. It is a slow-growing variety that has a reddish interior when ready for consumption.
Nutritional data: Overall, it is an easily digestible and low-calorie food species, rich in beta-carotene and vitamin A, as well as being a good source of B vitamins, calcium, and phosphorus.
GROWING CONDITIONS
Climate: Mild, does not support low temperatures. Prefers direct sun.
Soil: Rich and well drained.
Watering: Regular and abundant.
Intercropping: Lettuce, Beans, Basil, Melon, Corn.
Sowing time: Depending on the variety, between January and June or April and June.
Harvest time: 85 to 150 days after planting.
